Champions Youth Cup in Kuching

Yesterday was my first time watching live European quality soccer. It was amazing. Although the game were played by youth players, Under 19, but the quality of the game we watched in through Astro was almost the same. Everything from the pace, physical, action were identical with the Champions League. These kids played superbly. This was my first taste of live European football. Yesterday's match were played a Kuching Stadium & to tell u the truth, the pitch was quite horrible. Holes & patches were covered with sand. But it was acceptable because no player was hurt due the the pitch. The first match was played at 6.45pm between the Netherlands's League Champion, PSV Eindhoven & the 13-time German Champion, Bayern Munich.

The picture is not really clear, so I apologize but u can click the picture to enlarge it. This is the view of our Kuching Stadium. The match was dominated by PSV, but they couldn't find the back of the goal. Chances after chances, but they couldn't beat the Bayern goalkeeper, Ferdinand Oswalt. Then, before the stroke of half-time, Bayern was rewarded a penalty after PSV's goalkeeper, Zoet fouled a Bayern player in the penalty box. Viktor Bopp stepped up & scored from the penalty. 1-0 to Bayern.

Half-time. Players walking into the dressing room. The second half went on similar to the first half with PSV doing all the attacking while Bayern defending. Unfortunately, no goals were scored but it was one hell of a game. In the end, a standing ovation form the crowd to the players for putting a great show.

These are the Chelsea Youth team players, surveying the pitch before the match against Malaysia.

Malaysia U-19 vs Chelsea U-19. Shaking hands before the kick0ff. Before the match starts, I expect it was going to be a very one-sided game, with Chelsea dominating. The games started in a very fast pace game. Chelsea players seems to have the advantage, out-running the Malaysian team. Pace, stamina-wise was better than Malaysians player.

The match wasn't bad, but the previous match was better. Oh yeah, the part where i hate the most about this match. First, Malaysian player were very rough. Their style of play wasn't quick but quite tactical. They keep wasting time, & we assumed they are looking for a draw. Secondly, the referee, who's a Malaysian, seemed to favor the national team a little. Lastly, & the worst of all, the crowd. I was embarrassed by these uncivilized people. They keep shouting 'ass-hole' when Chelsea have the possession of the ball. This is totally unacceptable. The crowd really spoil the game & my mood. Screw them! They were so happy when Malaysian Team escaped with a point in the end of the match. Pathetic! The Malaysian team employ rough tactics & the jeer from the crowd really spoil our country's reputation.

Overall, I enjoyed the match. I paid rm12 for 2 matches. Sigh... I just hope the next time, which i doubt after what happened, the Malaysian crowd will behave themselves. It's really sickening. I hope the other teams won't take it seriously when the are called 'ass-hole'. What i fear is that they will not make another trip in the future after what happened. Sigh... Anyway, hear me out, you imbecile, immoral crowd (I do not wish to state which races I was referring to, & mind u, they are not Chinese), they next time try to behave & watch your mouth. I know it's patriotic to support your own team, but hell, it's not necessary to swear other teams. Damn!
